Current does not currently support beneficiary designations, transfer-on-death registrations, or trust account titling on any account type. All Current accounts pass through the estate at death and may require probate.
When an account holder dies, the executor or administrator will need to contact Current with a death certificate and legal authority documents to claim account balances. The process and required documents are covered on the death claim page.
Current does not currently support beneficiary designations (POD or TOD) on any account type. All accounts transfer through the estate at death and may require probate.
Current does not support retitling accounts into a trust, naming a trust as beneficiary, or any other probate-avoidance mechanism. Account balances transfer through the estate at death. Current is a fintech platform that does not support trust-titled accounts. Banking services are provided by partner banks Choice Financial Group, Member FDIC, and/or Cross River Bank, Member FDIC, but trust account opening and retitling must be done through an institution that supports trust accounts. Current accounts cannot be retitled to a trust.
Current Account
Primary spending account with Visa debit card. Features include early direct deposit (up to 2 days early), fee-free overdraft protection (Overdrive) up to $200 with qualifying direct deposits of $200+ over 35 days, mobile check deposit, and access to 40,000+ fee-free Allpoint ATMs. No minimum balance or monthly fees. Savings Pods
Each Current Account comes with three Savings Pods for goal-based saving. Earn a 4.00% annual boost rate on up to $2,000 per pod (max $6,000 total) when you receive at least one eligible payroll deposit of $200 or more over a rolling 35-day period; otherwise earn the 0.25% base rate. Non-direct deposit ACH transfers, P2P transfers, mobile check deposits, and cash deposits do not qualify. The boost rate is variable and may change at any time; it is paid by Current and is not a bank-provided APY. Boost bonuses are credited daily when at least $0.01 has accrued. No restrictions on moving money in and out. FDIC insured on a pass-through basis. No POD beneficiary designation available.
