Frequently asked questions

Yes. Anyone in the U.S. can join Connexus with a one-time $5 donation to the Connexus Association, which provides financial education services. Spouses, family members, and those living in the same household as an existing member can join without a donation. Membership requires a $5 minimum savings deposit.

Each POD or trust beneficiary designation is separately insured up to $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). This is separate from your other individually insured accounts. For example, an account with three POD beneficiaries could be insured up to $750,000.

Yes. Connexus offers investment services through LPL Financial (member FINRA/SIPC), including retirement planning, tax-advantaged investing, education accounts, 401(k) planning, life insurance, long-term care insurance, wealth preservation, and legacy planning. All members are eligible for a complimentary financial consultation. Securities and insurance products through LPL are not NCUA insured and may lose value.

Yes. Deposit accounts including checking, savings, money market, and share certificates can be retitled to a revocable living trust. Contact Connexus at 800-845-5025 to request the Account Change Agreement and trust account paperwork. You will need to provide your trust document or Certificate of Trust, government-issued ID for all trustees, and the trust tax identification number (EIN or SSN). Trust retitling can be completed in branch or by mail. IRA accounts cannot be retitled to a trust but can name a trust as beneficiary.

Connexus applies early withdrawal penalties based on the certificate term: 90 days of dividends for terms of one year or less, 180 days of dividends for terms more than one year but less than five years, and 365 days of dividends for terms of five years or greater. At maturity, there is a 10-day grace period during which you can withdraw or change terms without penalty. Dividends post quarterly using the daily balance method (last day of March, June, September, December).

To earn 4.50% APY on balances up to $25,000, you must meet three monthly requirements: subscribe to eStatements, make at least 15 debit card purchases or accumulate $500 in debit card spending, and receive at least $500 in direct deposits or ACH deposits from a non-Connexus account. Balances over $25,000 earn 0.25% APY when qualifications are met. Non-qualifying months earn 0.00% APY with no fees or penalties. Only one Xtraordinary Checking account is allowed per member. The Checking Progress Tool in Digital Banking tracks your monthly qualifications. APY accurate as of 07/07/2026.

Yes. Connexus offers an HSA with tiered rates: 0.00% APY on balances under $100, 0.10% APY ($100-$499.99), 0.20% APY ($500-$2,499.99), 0.30% APY ($2,500-$4,999.99), 0.50% APY ($5,000-$14,999.99), and 1.01% APY on balances of $15,000 or more. An HSA debit card is provided. You must be enrolled in a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) to qualify. 2026 contribution limits are $4,400 for individuals and $8,750 for families, with a $1,000 catch-up contribution for those 55 and older. Rates accurate as of 07/07/2026.
