The goal with your CommunityAmerica accounts is to make sure every account has a transfer mechanism in place—either a POD beneficiary designation or trust ownership. Because CommunityAmerica is a membership-based institution, trust retitling must maintain the membership eligibility requirement. Accounts without either one will require probate, which means court involvement and delays for your family.

Across 18 product types, CommunityAmerica accounts vary in how they transfer at death. The sections below walk through Payable on Death (POD) designations, trust funding options, and which products support each method.

  • IRA beneficiary designations are completed on a separate form at account opening and can be updated at any time
  • Upon death of the last surviving owner, POD funds are distributed to named beneficiaries and bypass probate
  • For investment account beneficiaries, contact CommunityAmerica Wealth Management (Copper Financial) directly
