Andrews FCU offers 21 accounts, each with its own rules for what happens when a member dies. As a membership-based credit union, Andrews FCU u.S. headquarters and mailing address: Andrews Federal Credit Union, 5711 Allentown Road, Suitland, MD 20746. European headquarters mailing address: Andrews Federal Credit Union, Unit 34601 Box 17, APO AE 09005-4601 — the address a survivor overseas can use without mailing internationally. Branches in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and New Jersey, plus overseas locations in Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands (most European branches open Monday-Friday 9:00-16:00; Chievres 10:00-17:00 weekdays and 10:00-14:00 Saturday; Hainerberg 10:00-16:30 weekdays and 10:00-13:30 Saturday). Originally chartered in 1948 at Joint Base Andrews; southern New Jersey added by merger in 1991, D.C. in 2005, Northern Virginia in 2014, Upper Marlboro in 2024, and the former HUD Federal Credit Union in 2026. Membership available through military affiliation, employer groups, the American Consumer Council, or being an immediate family or household member of an existing member. $5 minimum deposit opens the Base Share Savings account that establishes membership. Some transfer automatically to a named beneficiary, others can be held in a trust, and a few may require probate if no plan is in place.
Beneficiary designations at Andrews FCU can be managed online, in branch, and by mail. Trust funding is also available, allowing families to retitle accounts into the name of a revocable living trust.
