Frequently asked questions

Visit an Andrews FCU branch with your complete trust document or Certificate of Trust, government-issued photo ID for all trustees, the trust EIN from the IRS, and Social Security numbers for all trustees. Complete a trust account application, and Andrews FCU will retitle the accounts to trust ownership. Processing takes approximately 1-2 weeks. Note that IRA accounts cannot be retitled to a trust due to IRS regulations.

Membership is available through several pathways: military or civilian personnel at Joint Base Andrews or Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst; active duty U.S. Military or DoD civilians stationed in eligible overseas locations (Netherlands, Belgium, Germany); members of Andrews FCU employer groups; anyone who joins the American Consumer Council; or immediate family or household members of an existing Andrews FCU member. A $5 minimum deposit in a base share savings account is required to establish membership.

Under Maryland law (Md. Est. & Trusts 5-601), an estate can be settled through the simplified small-estate process at the Register of Wills when the property subject to administration is $50,000 or less, or $100,000 or less when the surviving spouse is the sole heir or legatee. If an Andrews FCU deposit account has no POD beneficiary and no surviving joint owner, and the total estate falls under those limits, the person appointed on a Maryland Small Estate can present that appointment to Deposit Support Services to collect the funds without a full probate. Members in DC, Virginia, and New Jersey use each state's own small-estate procedure.

Visit an Andrews FCU branch with the following documents: a complete copy of your revocable living trust agreement or a Certificate of Trust, government-issued photo ID for all trustees, the trust Employer Identification Number (EIN) issued by the IRS, and Social Security numbers for all trustees. Andrews FCU will process a trust account application to retitle the account(s) to trust ownership. Processing takes approximately 1-2 weeks.
