The goal with your Workers CU accounts is to make sure every account has a transfer mechanism in place—either a POD beneficiary designation or trust ownership. Because Workers CU is a membership-based institution, trust retitling must maintain the membership eligibility requirement. Accounts without either one will require probate, which means court involvement and delays for your family.

Each of Workers CU's 18 accounts has different rules for how it transfers at death. The sections below explain the options for each.

Prepare for your branch visit
  • Visit any Workers Credit Union branch location.
  • Bring valid government-issued photo ID.

Complete the beneficiary designation
  • Request the POD beneficiary designation form for deposit accounts or the IRA beneficiary form for retirement accounts.
  • Complete and sign the form at the branch with all account owners.
  • Branch staff will process the beneficiary update.

  • Trust name, date established, and tax ID (EIN or SSN)

Special Requirements

  • POD (Payable on Death) designations available for deposit accounts.
  • IRA accounts have separate beneficiary designations.
  • Trusts can be named as POD beneficiaries on deposit accounts.
  • All account owners must sign the beneficiary designation form.
