Wings CU is a credit union offering 15 accounts that interact with estate planning in different ways. As a membership-based credit union, Wings CU primary membership base in Minnesota (Minneapolis-St. Paul metro and 34 MN/WI counties) and Colorado (Front Range). Aviation industry membership available nationwide. Wings Financial Foundation membership available to anyone with a $5 donation. Post-merger, 91 combined branches across 6 states. Ent branches in Colorado and Wings branches in other states operate on separate systems until full integration (expected 2028). Headquarters at 14985 Glazier Ave, Suite 100, Apple Valley, MN 55124. Understanding how each account transfers at death—and which ones a trust can hold—helps families avoid probate delays and unintended outcomes.

Beneficiary designations at Wings CU can be managed in branch, by mail, and by phone, typically taking 15-30 minutes in branch; additional processing time by mail. Trust funding is also available, allowing families to retitle accounts into the name of a revocable living trust.

Wings CU provides specific procedures for both proactive estate planning and filing claims after a death.

Frequently asked questions

Visit any Wings branch, call 800-692-2274 (Monday-Friday 7 AM - 7 PM CT, Saturday 9 AM - 1 PM CT), or download the beneficiary designation form from wingscu.com/forms-disclosures. Online beneficiary designation is not currently available. You will need to provide beneficiary details including full name, date of birth, Social Security number, and relationship. The form allows up to 6 named beneficiaries with percentage allocations.

Yes. Visit any Wings branch with your trust document (or Certificate of Trust), government-issued photo ID for all trustees, and the trust EIN or SSN. All trustees must be eligible for Credit Union membership. You will complete the Trust Account Application & Signature Card. Existing accounts may need to be closed and reopened under the trust title. IRA accounts cannot be retitled to a trust but can name a trust as beneficiary.

The merger of Wings Financial and Ent Credit Union became effective January 1, 2026, with the combined entity operating as Wings Credit Union. No immediate action is required by members. Existing beneficiary designations, POD designations, and trust account titling remain in effect. Full systems integration is expected by 2028; until then, Ent branches in Colorado and Wings branches in other states operate on separate systems. Members should verify their beneficiary designations are current at their local branch.

IRAs cannot be retitled to a trust. However, you may name a trust as the beneficiary of your IRA. Consult a tax advisor before doing so, as naming a trust as IRA beneficiary can have significant tax implications for distribution timelines and required minimum distributions. Contact Wings at 800-692-2274 for specific procedures.

Elevate Savings offers competitive yields with no monthly fees or term commitments. It requires a $10,000 minimum opening deposit (new money only) and $10,000 average daily balance. To earn the disclosed APY, you need $1,000+ in ACH payroll direct deposits within the 34 calendar days preceding month-end. Like other deposit accounts, it supports POD beneficiary designations and trust retitling.
