Webster First FCU offers 15 accounts, each with its own rules for what happens when a member dies. As a membership-based credit union, Webster First FCU serves members who live, work, worship, or attend school in Essex, Middlesex, Suffolk, or Worcester County, Massachusetts, as well as their family and household members. Businesses and legal entities in these counties are also eligible. Fifteen branch locations: Auburn, Cambridge, Charlton, Douglas, Dudley, Fitchburg, Hopkinton, Saugus, Spencer, Webster, West Boylston, Whitinsville, Winthrop, Worcester, and Worcester Operations Center. Headquarters at 271 Greenwood Street, Worcester, MA 01607. Member Service Center hours: Mon-Wed 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Thu 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Fri 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Sat 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM ET. Members also have access to nearly 30,000 ATMs through the SUM and CO-OP Networks and nearly 5,000 shared branch locations through the CO-OP Network. Routing Number: 211386597. NMLS #419517. Some transfer automatically to a named beneficiary, others can be held in a trust, and a few may require probate if no plan is in place.

Beneficiary changes at Webster First FCU can be made in branch and by phone. Accounts can also be retitled into a trust to keep them out of probate entirely.

Frequently asked questions

The regular Money Market account requires only $5 to open and offers standard rates (0.15% APY on most tiers). Money Market Plus requires a $1,000 minimum balance and offers significantly higher rates (up to 3.50% APY on balances of $500,000+). To qualify for Money Market Plus rates, you must maintain an active Webster First checking account with at least one monthly direct deposit and at least five debit card transactions per month.

Yes. Webster First offers trust accounts for both revocable and irrevocable trusts. The trust must qualify under the field of membership requirements (Essex, Middlesex, Suffolk, or Worcester County). Visit any branch with your trust document or Certification of Trust, government-issued photo ID for all trustees, and the trust EIN if applicable. Contact (800) 962-4452 to discuss trust account options before your visit.

A Coverdell ESA at Webster First is a tax-advantaged savings account opened in a child's name. Contributions are non-deductible but limited to $2,000 per year per child under 18. Withdrawals are tax-free when used for qualified educational expenses including tuition, books, fees, and other costs for elementary, secondary, or post-secondary education. Must be opened in person at a branch.

Webster First offers fixed-rate share certificates with terms ranging from 3 months to 60 months. Minimum deposits range from $500 to $1,000 depending on the term. Dividends compound daily and post monthly. Early withdrawal penalties apply: 1 month of dividends for terms of 1 year or less, and 3 months of dividends for terms exceeding 1 year. All deposits are NCUA insured up to $250,000 with additional MSIC coverage.
