TruWest CU offers 19 accounts, each with its own rules for what happens when a member dies. As a membership-based credit union, TruWest CU eleven branches: 8 in the Phoenix metro area (Phoenix, Scottsdale, Mesa, Chandler, Tempe, Gilbert) and 3 in central Texas (two in Austin, one in Round Rock), plus a corporate office in Tempe, AZ (NCUA branch data, 2026-03-31). Membership requires purchase and maintenance of at least one share (a $5 minimum deposit) under TruWest's bylaws. Home equity products are available in Arizona and Texas only. Members can also transact at shared branching locations nationwide. TruWest is chartered by Arizona and its account agreement is governed by Arizona law -- so an estate claim on a Texas member's account is still handled under the Arizona-law agreement, though Texas probate documents (Letters Testamentary or a Texas small estate affidavit) are what a Texas executor will present. Some transfer automatically to a named beneficiary, others can be held in a trust, and a few may require probate if no plan is in place.
TruWest CU lets account holders update beneficiary designations in branch and by phone, typically taking 15-30 minutes in branch. Trust funding is also available, allowing families to retitle accounts into the name of a revocable living trust.
TruWest CU has documented procedures for both preparing accounts during your lifetime and handling claims when an account holder passes away.

TruWest itself does not provide legal estate planning or fiduciary trust administration services. However, TruWest offers wealth management through PFG Advisors, LLC and United Planners Financial Services (FINRA/SIPC), with advisors in Phoenix and Texas. These advisors can coordinate retirement, estate, and insurance planning. Wealth management services are separate from the credit union and are not NCUA-insured.
