IRA beneficiaries are designated on a separate IRA Beneficiary Designation form, not the standard POD form used for deposit accounts. The form is available in the Member Forms Library at ssfcu.org/account-services/member-forms and can be submitted online, emailed to ira@ssfcu.org, or faxed. You can also visit a branch or call 1-888-415-7878 to request the form. A trust can be named as an IRA beneficiary.
Visit any Security Service branch with your trust document or Certificate of Trust, government-issued ID for all trustees, and the trust's EIN or SSN. A branch representative will help you complete the trust account application and retitle existing accounts. Trust account retitling must be done in person. Existing POD designations should be reviewed when retitling to a trust, as trust ownership may supersede POD designations.
Yes. Each POD beneficiary you name on your account provides additional NCUA insurance coverage of up to $250,000 per beneficiary. Naming multiple beneficiaries can significantly increase the total insured amount, which is especially important for larger deposit balances.
The Money Market Plus is a blended rate tier account requiring $1,000 minimum to open. Each tier corresponds to a range of account balances and APYs, meaning the dividend rate is paid on the portion of your daily balance within each balance tier. Funds are NCUA insured and easy to access. One Money Market Plus account per primary account holder.
