How your SDCCU accounts transfer at death depends on how each one is set up. As a membership-based credit union, SDCCU serves Southern California: Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties. 39 branches across San Diego, Riverside, and Orange counties. Members outside the region may join through the Financial Fitness Association for $8. With 18 account types, the transfer rules vary—getting the right designations in place now prevents delays and court involvement later.
SDCCU handles beneficiary designations in branch, by mail, and by phone. Accounts can also be retitled into a trust to keep them out of probate entirely.
SDCCU has documented procedures for both preparing accounts during your lifetime and handling claims when an account holder passes away.
