How your Rockland FCU accounts transfer at death depends on how each one is set up. As a membership-based credit union, Rockland FCU serves members who live or work in Bristol, Barnstable, Middlesex, Plymouth, Norfolk, or Suffolk counties in Massachusetts. Family and household members of eligible or current members may also join. Employees and members of Explore Partner organizations and their families are eligible. Residents of any U.S. state can join through the American Consumer Council. Nine branch locations: Rockland, Hanover, Marshfield, Weymouth, Brockton, Plymouth, Walpole, Mansfield, and North Attleboro. With 20 account types, the transfer rules vary—getting the right designations in place now prevents delays and court involvement later.
Account holders can update their beneficiary designations at Rockland FCU in branch, by mail, and by phone. Accounts can also be retitled into a trust to keep them out of probate entirely.

Yes. Rockland FCU accepts both revocable and irrevocable trusts for checking, savings, money market, and share certificate accounts. Visit any of the nine South Shore branches with the trust document or Certification of Trust, government-issued ID for all trustees, the trust TIN/EIN, and Social Security numbers for acting trustees. Per federal credit union bylaws, shares may be issued in trust.
Yes. Existing checking, savings, money market, and share certificate accounts can be retitled to your revocable living trust. Visit a Rockland FCU branch with your trust document or Certification of Trust and government-issued ID for all trustees. IRA accounts cannot be retitled to a trust but may name a trust as beneficiary.
No. Rockland FCU's account agreement states that by merely opening a fiduciary account - one held by a trustee under a written trust agreement, or by an executor, administrator, or conservator under court order - the credit union is not acting as trustee and undertakes no obligation to monitor or enforce the terms of the trust or the letters. It is a depository only. It will pay whoever the trust document or Certification of Trust on file names as acting or successor trustee, so keeping that documentation current with the credit union is what actually controls who can reach the money.
