How your Robinhood investment accounts transfer at death depends on how each one is titled and whether a beneficiary is on file. Of those, 5 can name a trust as beneficiary or be retitled into a trust. Getting these details right keeps assets out of probate and ensures they reach the intended recipients.

Beneficiary designations at Robinhood can be managed online, typically taking 10-15 minutes in-app. Trust funding options vary by account type—check with Robinhood for specifics.

Robinhood provides specific procedures for both proactive estate planning and filing claims after a death.

Frequently asked questions

Not today. Robinhood announced trust accounts at its March 4, 2026 Take Flight event -- a brokerage account type letting one or more trustees manage equities, options, and uninvested cash held in the name of a revocable living trust -- but described them as beginning to roll out to eligible customers "later this year," and as of July 2026 Robinhood has published no trust-account help article or application. The path that works now is to name the trust as TOD beneficiary on the individual brokerage account: the trust must be valid under state law, the trustee must be authorized to receive distributions, and you must give Robinhood the trust instrument or an acceptable certification of trust plus the trust's Tax Identification Number. A trust can also be named as beneficiary on a Robinhood IRA. A trust cannot be named on a joint account.
