Polish National CU is a credit union offering 13 accounts that interact with estate planning in different ways. As a membership-based credit union, Polish National CU membership open to residents, workers, and students in Hampden, Hampshire, Berkshire, and Franklin counties in Western Massachusetts, and Hartford, Litchfield, and Tolland counties in Connecticut (Connecticut members must attend accredited public or private colleges, universities, high schools, elementary schools, or vocational schools). Seven branches in Massachusetts: Chicopee (Executive Office at 46 Main St and branch at 923 Front St), Wilbraham, Granby, Westfield, Southampton, Hampden, and East Longmeadow. No Polish heritage required. Understanding how each account transfers at death—and which ones a trust can hold—helps families avoid probate delays and unintended outcomes.
Account holders can update their beneficiary designations at Polish National CU in branch, by mail, and by phone. Accounts can also be retitled into a trust to keep them out of probate entirely.
Polish National CU has documented procedures for both preparing accounts during your lifetime and handling claims when an account holder passes away.

Visit any branch with your complete trust agreement or Certificate of Trust and government-issued photo ID for all trustees. All trustees with account access should be present. IRA accounts cannot be retitled to a trust; you must designate the trust as the IRA beneficiary instead. PNCU does not publish trust account forms on its website; all setup is handled in-branch.
Yes. PNCU offers IRA Money Market accounts (0.05% APY, $10 minimum) and IRA Certificates with terms from 12 to 60 months ($250 minimum, APY from 0.20% to 0.65%). Both are available as Traditional or Roth IRA. IRA accounts cannot be retitled to a trust, but you can name a revocable or irrevocable trust as beneficiary of an IRA. Consult a tax advisor before naming a trust as IRA beneficiary, as distribution rules differ from individual beneficiaries.
Yes. PNCU deposits are federally insured up to $250,000 per depositor through the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), backed by the full faith and credit of the United States Government. Deposits above the NCUA limit receive additional coverage through the Massachusetts Share Insurance Corporation (MSIC). Trust accounts can qualify for higher NCUA coverage based on the number of eligible beneficiaries named in the trust, potentially providing $250,000 per beneficiary up to NCUA limits.
