Preparing your Plynk investment accounts for estate transfer involves two primary strategies: designating beneficiaries on individual accounts and, where supported, retitling accounts into a revocable living trust. Both approaches bypass probate, but they work differently depending on the account type.
The transfer rules at Plynk vary across 4 investment accounts. Below is a breakdown of beneficiary options, trust funding, and which products support each method.
Special Requirements
- TOD registration is available on INDIVIDUAL registrations only and, per the DBS brokerage agreement, is not supported for Louisiana residents. Moving to a state where TOD is not eligible invalidates the designation
- Converting an individual account to a joint registration terminates the TOD registration as of the re-registration date, and the assets then pass to the estate
- Up to three beneficiaries per account (Plynk Help Center); marriage, divorce, or remarriage does NOT automatically revoke a designation -- a former spouse stays a beneficiary until you expressly replace the designation
- Crypto held at Paxos Trust Company, N.A. has no beneficiary designation and passes to the estate
- There is no downloadable beneficiary form and no branch; designations are made in the app or through the service team
