How to protect 1 Petal accounts — file death claims
Brand change
Petal's consumer credit-card business was acquired by Empower Finance, Inc. — Empower announced a definitive agreement to acquire Petal on April 9, 2024 — and has since been folded into Empower, which now operates the portfolio under the Tilt Card, Inc. brand (petalcard.com footer: "© 2025 Tilt Card, Inc."; Tilt Card, Inc. NMLS #2295169). New Petal card applications are closed and Petal cards are being replaced by Tilt-branded credit-builder cards, but existing Petal accounts continue to be serviced: WebBank remains the issuer and Petal / Tilt Card, Inc. remains the servicer, with a live deceased-cardholder process. Heirs settling a legacy Petal balance should contact the servicer at support@petalcard.com or 1-855-697-3825. No separate successor institution record — Tilt Card, Inc. is the same servicing entity rebranded, and WebBank (the issuer) has its own listing. Effective April 2024.

Petal services the account but is not a bank. Petal cards are issued by WebBank (Member FDIC). For settling the estate, the practical contact is Petal / Tilt Card, Inc. support at support@petalcard.com or 1-855-697-3825, because Petal services the account regardless of the issuing bank.
