Pen Air Federal Credit Union converted to a Florida state charter effective October 1, 2022 and now operates as PenAir Credit Union. PenAir states that member accounts were not affected by the charter change.
PenAir is a credit union offering 23 accounts that interact with estate planning in different ways. As a membership-based credit union, PenAir membership area: Bay, Calhoun, Escambia, Franklin, Gadsden, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson, Leon, Liberty, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, Wakulla, Walton, and Washington counties in Florida; Baldwin, Escambia, Houston, and Mobile counties in Alabama; and, as of February 2026, Montgomery County, Roanoke County, the City of Radford, the City of Roanoke, and the City of Salem in Virginia. Branches are in Northwest Florida and Southeast Alabama. PenAir has no Virginia branch and serves Virginia members through digital banking. A $5 deposit in a Savings Account establishes membership. Understanding how each account transfers at death—and which ones a trust can hold—helps families avoid probate delays and unintended outcomes.
PenAir lets account holders update beneficiary designations online, in branch, and by phone. Trust funding options vary by account type—check with PenAir for specifics.
