How your OCCU accounts transfer at death depends on how each one is set up. As a membership-based credit union, OCCU operates 11 branch locations throughout Southern California: Anaheim, Chino, Downtown Santa Ana, Fullerton, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Lake Forest, Long Beach, Mission Viejo, Santa Ana (St. Andrew Place), and Yorba Linda. Membership is open to anyone who lives or works in Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, or San Bernardino Counties. Members also have surcharge-free access to nearly 30,000 CO-OP Network ATMs nationwide. Headquartered in Santa Ana, CA. With 11 account types, the transfer rules vary—getting the right designations in place now prevents delays and court involvement later.

OCCU lets account holders update beneficiary designations in branch, by mail, and by phone, typically taking 15-30 minutes in branch; longer by mail. Trust funding is also available, allowing families to retitle accounts into the name of a revocable living trust.

OCCU has documented procedures for both preparing accounts during your lifetime and handling claims when an account holder passes away.
