How your New Mexico Bank & Trust accounts transfer at death depends on how each one is titled and whether a beneficiary is on file. Of those, 9 can name a trust as beneficiary or be retitled into a trust. Getting these details right keeps assets out of probate and ensures they reach the intended recipients.

New Mexico Bank & Trust handles beneficiary designations in branch and by phone. Accounts can also be retitled into a trust to keep them out of probate entirely.

New Mexico Bank & Trust has documented procedures for both preparing accounts during your lifetime and handling claims when an account holder passes away.

Yes. Deposit accounts -- checking, savings, money market, and CDs -- can be retitled to a revocable living trust at any UMB Bank branch in New Mexico. Bring the full trust agreement or a Certification of Trust and government-issued photo ID for each trustee. For revocable trusts, the grantor's SSN is used as the tax ID; no separate EIN is required. Once retitled, the account passes according to the trust's terms rather than any prior POD designation.
