How your MIDFLORIDA accounts transfer at death depends on how each one is set up. As a membership-based credit union, MIDFLORIDA serves individuals and businesses who live, work, worship, or attend school in 59 of the 67 counties in Florida. The credit union describes its footprint as "more than 65 branches from Tampa Bay to the Treasure Coast, up to Tallahassee and down to Naples," with the heaviest concentration along the I-4 corridor from Tampa to Orlando. MIDFLORIDA acquired Prime Meridian Bank on March 1, 2026, adding the Tallahassee and Crawfordville markets; account conversion ran on April 18, 2026, and former Prime Meridian customers gained access to the full MIDFLORIDA branch network beginning April 20, 2026. No further merger or acquisition has been announced as of 2026-09-13. Membership is Florida-bound, so an out-of-state executor cannot open the estate's own account here on the strength of the decedent's membership; shared branching covers transactions on existing accounts, not new fiduciary relationships. MIDFLORIDA lets account holders update beneficiary designations in branch and by phone, typically taking 15 to 30 minutes. Trust funding is also available, allowing families to retitle accounts into the name of a revocable living trust.
