MHV FCU offers 23 accounts, each with its own rules for what happens when a member dies. As a membership-based credit union, MHV FCU headquartered in Kingston, NY (1099 Morton Blvd, Kingston, NY 12401) with 14 branch locations across the Hudson Valley. Ulster County branches: Kingston (Main), Hurley Ave (Kingston), Port Ewen, Saugerties, Woodstock, Highland. Dutchess County branches: Fishkill, LaGrange, Poughkeepsie, Red Hook, Rhinebeck. Orange County branches: Middletown, Newburgh. Westchester County branch: Peekskill. Membership requires living, working, worshiping, volunteering, or attending school in Ulster, Dutchess, Orange, Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, or Sullivan County, NY. $5 minimum deposit to open a savings account and establish membership. Some transfer automatically to a named beneficiary, others can be held in a trust, and a few may require probate if no plan is in place.

MHV FCU handles beneficiary designations in branch and by phone. Accounts can also be retitled into a trust to keep them out of probate entirely.
