For Foresters policyholders, estate planning comes down to one critical step: making sure the right beneficiaries are named on every policy. Insurance proceeds bypass probate entirely and go directly to whoever is listed—regardless of what a will says. When estate tax planning or controlled distributions are a factor, a trust can be named as beneficiary instead.

Log in to MyForesters (or use the MyForesters app) to access MyPolicy, where you can view and manage your certificate online

Navigate to the forms section within MyPolicy to find the Change of Beneficiary form, or use the live chat feature (Monday-Friday 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM ET) for assistance

Complete the form with the certificate number, insured's information, and all beneficiary details

Submit the completed form using one of the following methods:

Required Documents

  • Trust name, date established, and tax ID (EIN or SSN)

Special Requirements

  • All beneficiaries must be listed on the form, even those not being changed
  • Primary and contingent beneficiary percentages must each total 100%
  • Irrevocable beneficiary designations require the beneficiary's written consent to change
  • If any beneficiary is a minor, a trustee must be named to receive proceeds payable while the child is a minor
  • Trusts can be named as primary or contingent beneficiaries
  • Form must be signed by the certificate owner
  • If your signature has changed since time of issue, include a clear copy of government-issued ID
