Operated as TIAA Bank (TIAA, FSB) from 2018 to 2023. TIAA completed the sale of the bank to an investor group led by Stone Point Capital and Warburg Pincus on July 31, 2023; the bank reverted to the EverBank name and now operates under a national bank charter as EverBank, N.A. EverBank has since absorbed two other brands and announced a third combination, and it is the surviving handler in every one: it acquired Sterling Bank and Trust, F.S.B. on April 1, 2025 and completed the conversion and rebrand on September 8, 2025, and on September 7, 2026 EverBank Financial Corp and WaFd, Inc. announced a $3.9 billion reverse merger in which WaFd Bank merges into EverBank, N.A. "with EverBank continuing as the bank chartered by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency." That transaction is expected to close in early 2027 subject to regulatory and WaFd shareholder approval, so EverBank, N.A. remains the live handler for every legacy TIAA Bank and Sterling Bank account. This is the current active record.
