Delta Community CU is a credit union offering 11 accounts that interact with estate planning in different ways. As a membership-based credit union, Delta Community CU membership open to anyone who lives or works in 20 Georgia metro Atlanta counties (Barrow, Butts, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall, Henry, Jackson, Newton, Paulding, Rockdale, Spalding, Walton), employees of over 150 partner companies nationwide (including Delta Air Lines, Chick-fil-A, RaceTrac, UPS), and family members of existing members. Understanding how each account transfers at death—and which ones a trust can hold—helps families avoid probate delays and unintended outcomes.
Beneficiary designations at Delta Community CU can be managed in branch and by mail, typically taking 15-30 minutes. Trust funding is also available, allowing families to retitle accounts into the name of a revocable living trust.

Download the Designation of Beneficiary form from the Forms page on deltacommunitycu.com or request one at any branch. Complete the form with each beneficiary's name, Social Security number, and date of birth. The primary member and all joint owners must sign the form. Submit by mail, fax, branch visit, or Online Banking Message System. The beneficiary cannot be a joint owner on the same account.
Yes. Members with a Family Trust can name the trust as POD beneficiary on deposit accounts including savings, checking, additional savings, money market, CD, and IRA accounts. The trust name must include the date the trust was established (e.g., "John D. Doe Revocable Living Trust u/t/d July 27, 2010"). For non-person entities like trusts, the Tax ID Number is required on the beneficiary form.
Contact Trust Services at 404-677-4100, option 1, or visit a branch. Bring the Certificate of Trust or relevant trust document pages and valid government-issued photo ID for all grantors and trustees. All trust grantors must have a personal membership in good standing and must maintain it for the duration of the trust account. If formal trust eligibility cannot be met, you can alternatively name your trust as POD beneficiary on personal accounts.
Complete the IRA Beneficiary Designation form, available on the Forms page at deltacommunitycu.com, at any branch, or via DocuSign by calling the IRA Team at 404-677-4600, option 1 (Monday-Friday 8 AM - 5 PM). Include each beneficiary's name, address, date of birth, Social Security number, relationship, and percentage allocation. Trusts and charities require a Tax ID Number. Submit by mail, fax, branch visit, Online Banking Message System, or DocuSign. IRA beneficiary designations supersede instructions in a will or trust.

A formal Revocable Trust Account is opened by providing the Certificate of Trust, trustee identification, and completing a trust account application at a branch. All grantors must maintain personal memberships in good standing. An informal trust is created by naming your trust as POD beneficiary on personal accounts without opening a separate trust account. Both options provide different levels of NCUA share insurance coverage. Contact Trust Services at 404-677-4100, option 1, for guidance on which option is appropriate.
Membership is open to anyone who lives or works in 20 Georgia metro Atlanta counties (including Fulton, DeKalb, Cobb, Gwinnett, and others), current and retired employees of over 150 partner companies throughout the U.S. (including Delta Air Lines, Chick-fil-A, RaceTrac, and UPS), and family members related by blood, adoption, or marriage to an existing member. You do not need to be a Delta Air Lines employee to join.
Yes. Delta Community provides separate beneficiary designation forms for Health Savings Accounts (HSA Beneficiary Designation) and Coverdell Education Savings Accounts (Coverdell ESA Beneficiary Designation). Both forms are available at deltacommunitycu.com/home/forms.html. These are in addition to the standard Designation of Savings, Checking, and/or CD Beneficiary form used for deposit accounts and the IRA Change of Beneficiary form used for IRAs.
