With 5 products relevant to estate planning, CSAA Insurance policyholders need to understand how beneficiary designations control where proceeds go. These designations override a will, so the names on file with CSAA Insurance are what determine who receives the death benefit.

Beneficiary changes at CSAA Insurance can be made in branch, by mail, and by phone. Accounts can also be linked to trusts through beneficiary designations to keep them out of probate entirely.

CSAA Insurance provides specific procedures for both proactive estate planning and filing claims after a death.

Auto insurance policies are generally not retitled to a trust because they insure drivers, not assets. The named insured on an auto policy is the individual driver (or drivers) covered under the policy. If a vehicle is titled in the name of a trust, contact CSAA Insurance Specialists at 800-207-3618 to discuss how to structure the policy so that coverage applies. In most cases, the trustee is listed as the named insured with the trust noted as the vehicle owner. Auto insurance requirements differ from homeowners insurance, where the policy should be updated to name the trust as insured when the property is deeded to the trust.
