Beacon Pointe has 12 investment accounts, each with different rules for what happens when the account holder dies. Of those, 8 can name a trust as beneficiary or be retitled into a trust. The right combination of beneficiary designations and trust ownership can keep the entire portfolio out of probate.

Beneficiary designations at Beacon Pointe can be managed online, in branch, by mail, and by phone, typically taking typically 3-5 business days after forms are submitted to the custodian. Trust funding is also available, allowing families to retitle brokerage accounts into a trust.

There are two sides to estate planning at Beacon Pointe: setting things up while you're alive, and the process survivors follow after a death.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Individual and joint managed accounts custodied at Schwab, Fidelity, or another third-party custodian can be retitled to a revocable trust. Your Beacon Pointe advisor coordinates the retitling paperwork with the custodian. You will need to provide a Certification of Trust or full trust document, government-issued ID for all trustees, and the trust tax identification number. Retirement accounts (Traditional IRA, Roth IRA, Rollover IRA, SEP-IRA, Solo 401(k)) cannot be retitled to a trust but can name a trust as beneficiary.
