Bank of Hope has 15 accounts, each with different rules for what happens when the account holder dies. Of those, 14 can name a trust as beneficiary or be retitled into a trust. The right combination of beneficiary designations and trust ownership can keep the entire portfolio out of probate.

At Bank of Hope, beneficiary designations are managed in branch and by phone. Accounts can also be retitled into a trust to keep them out of probate entirely.

There are two sides to estate planning at Bank of Hope: setting things up while you're alive, and the process survivors follow after a death.

Frequently asked questions

Bank of Hope handles trust account opening and retitling in branch rather than online. Bring a Certification of Trust (or the relevant trust agreement pages), government-issued photo ID for all trustees, and the trust's SSN or EIN to a branch. An existing personal deposit account can be retitled to the trust without closing and reopening it, provided the same SSN or EIN is used. IRA accounts cannot be retitled to a trust. Branches that open Hope Honors Gold and Platinum accounts are limited to California, Illinois, Texas, and Washington, though standard trust deposit accounts can be opened at any branch.
