Preparing your Arvest accounts for estate transfer involves two primary strategies: designating beneficiaries on individual accounts and, where supported, retitling accounts into a revocable living trust. Both approaches bypass probate, but they work differently depending on the account type.

Across 15 product types, Arvest accounts vary in how they transfer at death. The sections below walk through Payable on Death (POD) designations, trust funding options, and which products support each method.

1
Visit any Arvest Bank branch with valid government-issued photo ID
2
Request to add a POD (Payable on Death) beneficiary to your deposit account
3
Provide beneficiary details:
  • Each beneficiary's full legal name and identifying information
  • Percentage allocations if naming multiple beneficiaries
  • For IRA accounts, complete separate beneficiary designation paperwork
4
Sign updated account documentation
5
Request a copy of the updated designation for your records

Required Documents

  • Trust name, date established, and tax ID (EIN or SSN)

Special Requirements

  • Per Arvest FAQ, POD/beneficiary changes on deposit accounts must be completed in person at any Arvest branch -- there is no online or standalone downloadable form. Any account owner can make the change with valid government-issued ID.
  • IRA beneficiary designations are handled separately from deposit account POD designations.
  • A standalone HSA Beneficiary Change Form is available for download at https://www.arvest.com/pdfs/hsa_beneficiary_change_form.pdf for Health Savings Account beneficiaries only.
  • Joint account holders may need to agree on beneficiary designations.
