How your AmeriCU accounts transfer at death depends on how each one is set up. As a membership-based credit union, AmeriCU headquartered in Rome, NY with 25 financial center locations (including the Virtual Financial Center) throughout Central and Northern New York. Mountain Valley Region (Peru, Keeseville, Wilmington, AuSable Forks) added via merger with Mountain Valley FCU completed December 1, 2025. Home equity products also available in Florida. Access to 30,000+ surcharge-free ATMs and 5,000+ shared branches nationwide via CO-OP Network. With 21 account types, the transfer rules vary—getting the right designations in place now prevents delays and court involvement later.

AmeriCU handles beneficiary designations in branch and by phone. Accounts can also be retitled into a trust to keep them out of probate entirely.

There are two sides to estate planning at AmeriCU: setting things up while you're alive, and the process survivors follow after a death.
