Frequently asked questions

Affinity Plus offers four money market accounts. The Superior Money Market has the highest rate with no minimum balance but requires $500+/month direct deposit and digital statements. The Capitol Money Market requires $2,000 to earn dividends with tiered rates. The A+ Money Market requires $10,000 minimum balance. The Nova Money Market requires $25,000 minimum balance and offers the highest rate without monthly requirements. All money market accounts support POD beneficiary designations and can be retitled to a trust. NCUA insured up to $250,000.

Membership is available through multiple pathways: employment with the State of Minnesota, University of Minnesota Twin Cities, or any organization receiving State of Minnesota funding (schools, hospitals, counties, cities, nonprofits); enrollment at Minnesota State colleges and universities; living, working, or worshiping in select Minnesota communities (including Arden Hills, Minneapolis, Roseville, St. Paul, and others); being a relative or roommate of a current member; or making a one-time $25 dues payment to the Affinity Plus Foundation. Members in all 50 states are served.

Yes. The Affinity Plus Investment Center provides financial guidance, investment strategies, retirement planning, life and health insurance, and 401(k) rollover services through LPL Financial (member FINRA/SIPC). Products range from conservative certificates to aggressive mutual funds. A team of 10 advisors is available across Minnesota locations. Contact (800) 322-7228 or request an appointment at affinityplus.org. Investment and insurance products are not NCUA insured, may lose value, and are not deposits or obligations of the credit union.

General mail and board correspondence should be sent to 175 West Lafayette Frontage Rd, St. Paul, MN 55107. Loan payments and deposits should be mailed to P.O. Box 64569, St. Paul, MN 55164-0569. For mortgage payoff requests, email mortgagepayoffs@affinityplus.org. Mortgage error resolution correspondence goes to P.O. Box 64567, St. Paul, MN 55107. You can also make payments through digital banking, at any branch, or by phone at (800) 322-7228.

Contact Affinity Plus at (800) 322-7228 or visit a branch to initiate the trust account setup. You will need your complete trust agreement or a Certification of Trust, government-issued photo ID for all trustees, and the trust Tax ID Number (SSN or EIN). Eligible deposit accounts including checking, savings, money market, and certificate accounts can be retitled into the trust name. IRA accounts cannot be retitled to a trust but can name a trust as beneficiary. Trust account setup requires an in-branch visit or video banking appointment. Trust accounts receive separate NCUA insurance coverage of up to $250,000 per beneficiary per owner.

Affinity Plus deposits are federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) up to $250,000 per depositor, per ownership category. Different ownership categories include individual accounts, joint accounts, trust accounts, and IRA accounts, each with separate $250,000 coverage. Trust accounts receive up to $250,000 per beneficiary per owner, potentially providing significantly more coverage for families with multiple beneficiaries. Investment products offered through the Affinity Plus Investment Center (via LPL Financial) are not NCUA insured, may lose value, and are not deposits or obligations of the credit union.

WINcentive Savings is a prize-linked savings account available to Minnesota and Wisconsin residents. Start with as little as $5 and commit to a 12-month savings period. Each $25 increase in month-over-month balance earns entries into cash prize drawings: three monthly winners receive $500 each, and five annual winners receive $1,000 each. Maximum entries per savings period are 4 monthly, 12 quarterly, and 48 annual. Early withdrawal fees apply ($10 for the first withdrawal, $25 for the second; a third withdrawal closes the account). You may make one no-penalty withdrawal during your anniversary month. The account is NCUA insured up to $250,000 and can be retitled to a trust.
