Peak CU is a credit union offering 13 accounts that interact with estate planning in different ways. As a membership-based credit union, Peak CU operates 35 branches across Washington and Oregon. Headquartered in Lacey, WA. Membership eligibility: anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school anywhere in Washington State, or lives or works in the following Oregon counties: Benton, Clackamas, Coos, Crook, Deschutes, Douglas, Jackson, Jefferson, Josephine, Klamath, Lane, Linn, Marion, Multnomah, and Washington. Immediate family or household members of existing Peak CU members are also eligible. Additionally, donating at least $5 to Relay for Life (covering WA, OR, ID, MT, CA) or Habitat for Humanity during account opening qualifies for membership. Understanding how each account transfers at death—and which ones a trust can hold—helps families avoid probate delays and unintended outcomes.
Account holders can update their beneficiary designations at Peak CU in branch, by mail, and by phone. Accounts can also be retitled into a trust to keep them out of probate entirely.
Peak CU provides specific procedures for both proactive estate planning and filing claims after a death.
