TFS mails a paper title or lien release to the primary address on file, which is the vehicle's garage address or a separate mailing address if one was provided, unless it is instructed otherwise. Written or verbal authorization is required to send it to a third party such as a dealer, an insurance company, another financial institution or an individual; written authorization goes with mailed payoff funds, or call 800-874-8822. A paper title or lien release arrives 25-40 business days after the payoff posts. An electronic title takes 7.5-9.5 weeks, because TFS notifies the state within about 10 business days and the state then takes 6-8 weeks to provide the title. Florida and Arizona generally keep the title electronic unless the owner requests a paper title.
For a vehicle returned 31 days or more before the maturity date, TFS calculates the early return balance and sends a Lease End Invoice 60-120 days after return, because the balance may be determined after the vehicle is sold at auction. TFS states that early termination fees may apply and that questions about turning in a lease early go to 1-800-286-0652.
