Savant Wealth offers 9 consumer investment accounts that interact with estate planning in distinct ways. Of those, 9 can name a trust as beneficiary or be retitled into a trust. Understanding the transfer methods available for each account type helps families keep assets out of probate and ensure they pass to the right people.

At Savant Wealth, beneficiary designations are managed in branch, by mail, and by phone. Accounts can also be retitled into a trust to keep them out of probate entirely.

Savant Wealth has documented procedures for both preparing accounts during your lifetime and handling claims when an account holder passes away.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Savant has two affiliated entities specifically for estate planning. Savant Legal LLP is an affiliated law firm that drafts estate planning documents including trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives, and handles trust and estate settlement services. Savant Private Trust provides corporate trustee services through a Trust Representative Office arrangement with National Advisors Trust Company (NATC) and National Advisors Trust of South Dakota (NATSD), and can serve as trustee for clients in all 50 states.

Contact your Savant wealth advisor directly or call 866-489-0500. The advisor provides the appropriate beneficiary designation form for each account type (TOD for taxable accounts, beneficiary designation for IRAs and retirement accounts). Because Savant does not custody assets, the form is submitted to the account custodian (typically Schwab or Fidelity) for processing. Savant recommends reviewing beneficiary designations annually and after major life events.

Savant coordinates trust funding through the account custodian (typically Schwab or Fidelity). Your advisor needs a certified copy of the trust agreement or a Certificate of Trust, government-issued ID for all trustees, and the trust's tax identification number (EIN, or the grantor's SSN for a revocable trust). Existing taxable accounts are retitled from individual or joint ownership into the trust name. IRAs cannot be retitled to a trust but a trust can be named as beneficiary. Funding typically completes within 1-3 weeks depending on custodian processing.

Yes. Savant Private Trust operates as a Trust Representative Office for National Advisors Trust Company (NATC) and National Advisors Trust of South Dakota (NATSD), allowing it to serve as corporate trustee for clients in all 50 states. South Dakota situs is often used for dynasty trusts and asset protection trusts because of South Dakota's favorable trust laws (no state income tax on trust income, perpetual trust duration, and strong privacy protections). Speak with your Savant advisor about whether corporate trusteeship fits your estate plan.
