When a Logix member passes away, the Logix Financial Services (Estate Planning & Trust Services) handles the transition of accounts to beneficiaries or the estate. Accounts with Payable on Death designations or trust ownership transfer outside of probate, while solely-owned accounts may require Letters Testamentary or Letters of Administration from the probate court.
Gather the account holder's full name, date of birth, and any known account or policy numbers before contacting Logix. A certified death certificate is the primary document required to start any claim.
Here is the step-by-step death claim process at Logix:
For investment accounts held through Logix Financial Services, also contact Financial Consultants at 800-553-3707 (Mon-Fri 8:00 AM-6:00 PM PT). Overnight deliveries can be sent to 27918 Franklin Parkway, Valencia, CA 91355.
Processing timelines at Logix: POD and joint accounts processed upon verification of documentation; estate accounts requiring probate vary by state and court timelines. Incomplete documentation is the most common cause of delays—submitting all required documents with the initial claim helps avoid additional processing time.
Logix requires several documents to process a claim, including Certified death certificate (10-12 copies recommended for working with multiple institutions), Government-issued photo ID for beneficiary, executor, or successor trustee, and Letters Testamentary or Letters of Administration (if no POD and not a joint or trust account), and additional documentation depending on the account type. Certified copies are typically needed—photocopies are generally not accepted for death certificates or court documents.
Call Logix at 800-328-5328 or visit any Logix branch to add a POD (Payable on Death) beneficiary to your deposit accounts. Logix allows unlimited POD beneficiaries who receive equal shares. You will need each beneficiary's full name and date of birth; Social Security numbers are not required. Online beneficiary designation is not currently available for deposit accounts. For investment accounts, contact Logix Financial Consultants at 800-553-3707.
Contact Logix at 800-328-5328 to notify them of the death. Logix will freeze the account. If the account has a POD beneficiary, funds pass directly to the named beneficiary upon presentation of a death certificate and government ID. For joint accounts with right of survivorship, the surviving owner retains full access. For accounts without POD or joint ownership, the estate representative must provide Letters Testamentary or Letters of Administration from probate court. Logix recommends requesting 10-12 certified death certificates for use with multiple institutions.
Logix's Member Service Center (Death Claims) can be reached by phone at 1-800-328-5328 and fax at 1-800-713-0258 for questions throughout the claims process.
If the deceased held multiple Logix accounts, each may require a separate claim or have different documentation requirements. The Logix Financial Services (Estate Planning & Trust Services) can confirm which accounts require individual attention and which can be processed together.
