HTLF Bank offers 12 consumer accounts that interact with estate planning in distinct ways. Of those, 10 can name a trust as beneficiary or be retitled into a trust. Understanding the transfer methods available for each account type helps families keep assets out of probate and ensure they pass to the right people.

Beneficiary designations at HTLF Bank can be managed online, in branch, by mail, and by phone, typically taking 10-15 minutes. Trust funding is also available, allowing families to retitle accounts into the name of a revocable living trust.

HTLF Bank provides specific procedures for both proactive estate planning and filing claims after a death.

Yes. A trust can be named as a POD beneficiary on UMB Bank deposit accounts including checking, savings, money market, and time deposit (CD) accounts. Visit your local branch with trust documentation to complete the designation, as trust beneficiary setups typically require in-person or assisted processing to ensure proper documentation.

Yes. UMB Bank supports both revocable and irrevocable trust accounts for checking, savings, money market, and time deposit (CD) accounts. Visit a local branch with your Certification of Trust (or full trust agreement), trustee identification, and the trust tax ID number. Existing personal accounts can be converted to trust ownership with proper documentation. IRA accounts cannot be retitled to a trust. UMB also offers trust management services through UMB Trust Company of South Dakota.

You need a Certification of Trust (also called a Trust Abstract or Affidavit of Trust) or the full trust agreement with relevant pages including trust name, grantor and trustee information, trustee powers, and signature pages.
