When a Grow Financial member passes away, the Death Claims handles the transition of accounts to beneficiaries or the estate. Accounts with Payable on Death designations or trust ownership transfer outside of probate, while solely-owned accounts may require Letters Testamentary or Letters of Administration from the probate court.
The claim process begins with a phone call to 1-800-839-6328. Have the account holder's full name, account numbers, and a certified death certificate available when making initial contact.
Here is the step-by-step death claim process at Grow Financial:
Death certificates can be faxed to 813-832-2088. Deposit Servicing fax: 813-832-2088. Processing timelines at Grow Financial: POD and joint accounts typically process within 5-10 business days after complete documentation is received. Probate-dependent claims vary based on court timelines.. Incomplete documentation is the most common cause of delays—submitting all required documents with the initial claim helps avoid additional processing time.
Grow Financial requires several documents to process a claim, including Certified death certificate, Government-issued photo ID for claimant, and Letters Testamentary or Letters of Administration (if no POD/joint/trust), and additional documentation depending on the account type. Certified copies are typically needed—photocopies are generally not accepted for death certificates or court documents.
Call Grow Financial at 800-839-6328, visit a store location, or submit a request by mail. Per the Universal Account Agreement, deposit accounts support POD (Payable on Death) beneficiary designations. You will need to provide each beneficiary's full legal name, date of birth, Social Security number, and relationship. You can designate both primary and contingent beneficiaries.
It depends on how the account is titled. Joint accounts with right of survivorship pass directly to the surviving owner. Accounts with POD beneficiary designations pass to the named beneficiaries upon presentation of a death certificate and ID. Trust accounts transfer to the successor trustee per the trust terms. Accounts without these designations go through probate and require Letters Testamentary or Administration.
Grow Financial has a dedicated death certificate fax line at 813-832-2088. You can also mail a certified copy of the death certificate to Grow Financial FCU, P.O. Box 89909, Tampa, FL 33689-0415, or bring it to any store location in person.
Grow Financial's Death Claims can be reached by phone at 1-800-839-6328 and fax at (813) 832-2088 for questions throughout the claims process.
If the deceased held multiple Grow Financial accounts, each may require a separate claim or have different documentation requirements. The Death Claims can confirm which accounts require individual attention and which can be processed together.
