Glacier Hills CU is a credit union offering 12 accounts that interact with estate planning in different ways. As a membership-based credit union, Glacier Hills CU membership open to anyone who lives or works in Calumet, Columbia, Dodge, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Jefferson, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Sheboygan, Washington, Waukesha, Waushara, and Winnebago counties in Wisconsin, as well as their immediate family members. Four branches: West Bend (2150 S Main St), Jackson (W199N16795 Ridgeway Dr), Hartford (1025 E Sumner St), and Fond du Lac (608 W Johnson St). Understanding how each account transfers at death—and which ones a trust can hold—helps families avoid probate delays and unintended outcomes.

Account holders can update their beneficiary designations at Glacier Hills CU in branch and by phone. Accounts can also be retitled into a trust to keep them out of probate entirely.

Glacier Hills CU has documented procedures for both preparing accounts during your lifetime and handling claims when an account holder passes away.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Deposit accounts such as checking, savings, money market, and CDs can be retitled to a revocable living trust. Visit a Glacier Hills branch with your trust agreement or Certificate of Trust, government-issued ID for all trustees, and the trust EIN if applicable (a revocable trust typically uses the grantor SSN, not a separate EIN). Trust accounts at credit unions are NCUA-insured. Allow 1-2 weeks for retitling. Note: because Glacier Hills is a member-owned credit union, the grantor/trustee generally must be an eligible Glacier Hills member -- a trust cannot establish independent membership.

Membership is open to anyone who lives or works in Calumet, Columbia, Dodge, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Jefferson, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Sheboygan, Washington, Waukesha, Waushara, and Winnebago counties in Wisconsin, as well as their immediate family members. A $5 share deposit establishes membership.

Glacier Hills offers two checking accounts: GlacierOne Checking (customizable, no minimum balance, no monthly fees, earns interest on balances of $1,000 or more, includes free contactless Visa debit card) and the YES Checking Account (a second-chance checking account for members who may have had difficulty opening a traditional account). Both accounts include online and mobile banking.

Glacier Hills offers Share Savings ($5 minimum establishes membership), Dream Account (goal-based savings with $0 minimum), Glacier Peak Money Market (tiered rates that step up at $10K, $25K, $50K, $75K, $100K, and $250K+), Glacier Edge Money Market (youth account for ages 0-23 with $100 minimum), Saver's Sweepstakes (prize-linked savings through the Wisconsin Credit Union League), and Certificates of Deposit with terms from 3 to 60 months. See https://www.glacierhills.com/accounts/savings/deposit-rates for current APYs.

Yes. Glacier Hills offers both Traditional and Roth IRA accounts, available as IRA savings or IRA certificate. The Retirement Builder option allows automatic deposits as little as $5 per month; once the account reaches $1,000, it automatically rolls into a one-year IRA certificate. Traditional IRA distributions are taxable with required minimum distributions beginning at age 73. Roth IRA qualified distributions are tax-free with no required minimum distributions during the owner's lifetime.

Glacier Hills operates four branches in southeastern Wisconsin: West Bend (2150 S Main St -- home office), Jackson (W199N16795 Ridgeway Dr), Hartford (1025 E Sumner St), and Fond du Lac (608 W Johnson St). Members also have access to 5,400+ shared branches nationwide through the CO-OP network.

Yes. Glacier Hills offers investment and financial planning services through Scott Miller. Securities are offered through Kestra Investment Services, LLC (Kestra IS), and investment advisory services are offered through Kestra Advisory Services, LLC (Kestra AS). Tax preparation and financial planning meetings are available at all Glacier Hills branch locations.
