Fundrise has 7 investment accounts, each with different rules for what happens when the account holder dies. Of those, 5 can name a trust as beneficiary or be retitled into a trust. The right combination of beneficiary designations and trust ownership can keep the entire portfolio out of probate.
Beneficiary designations at Fundrise can be managed online and by mail, typically taking 5-10 minutes online; 1-2 weeks by mail for IRA accounts. Trust funding is also available, allowing families to retitle brokerage accounts into a trust.
Fundrise has documented procedures for both preparing accounts during your lifetime and handling claims when an account holder passes away.

View details →No. Fundrise opens a trust account as a NEW account; existing share lots in an individual or joint account cannot be transferred into a trust account post-opening. The two options are: (1) name the trust as beneficiary on the existing account, or (2) redeem the existing holdings through the quarterly redemption window and reinvest the proceeds through a new trust account. Because the redemption queue can take months, naming the trust as beneficiary is the lower-friction option for most planners.
