How your Frost accounts transfer at death depends on how each one is titled and whether a beneficiary is on file. Of those, 14 can name a trust as beneficiary or be retitled into a trust. Getting these details right keeps assets out of probate and ensures they reach the intended recipients.

Frost lets account holders update beneficiary designations in branch and by phone, typically taking 15-30 minutes. Trust funding is also available, allowing families to retitle accounts into the name of a revocable living trust.

Frost has documented procedures for both preparing accounts during your lifetime and handling claims when an account holder passes away.

Frequently asked questions

Frost offers comprehensive fiduciary services including trust and estate planning, trust administration, executor services, and investment management. Frost specializes in court appointed trusts for minors and incapacitated persons under Texas Property Code Section 142 and Texas Estates Code Section 1301. They also offer revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts, and charitable trusts.

A revocable trust can be changed or revoked at any point during your lifetime. It helps avoid probating a will, maintains privacy, and allows for asset management if you become incapable. An irrevocable trust cannot be changed or revoked once created; since the grantor gives up control over the assets, it can provide tax benefits.

Yes. Frost offers executor services as part of its comprehensive fiduciary services. Their team manages assets and navigates legal and tax matters, working in partnership with a network of experienced attorneys, accountants, and financial providers. Contact Frost Trust & Estate Planning at 1-888-268-9202 for more information.

Yes. Frost offers TrustReporter for personal accounts, which allows you to securely view, print, and download your investment and trust account information. Business clients can use Trust Online to review trust or asset management accounts.

Yes. Frost checking, savings, money market, and CD accounts can be retitled to a revocable living trust. Visit a Frost financial center with your trust document or Certificate of Trust and complete the Change of Account Ownership Form. You can also mail the form and supporting documents to your Frost financial center. IRA accounts cannot be retitled to a trust but a trust can be named as beneficiary.

Frost offers 529 College Savings Plans, Coverdell Education Savings Accounts (ESA), and UGMA/UTMA Custodial Accounts. 529 plans allow tax-free withdrawals for qualified education expenses including K-12, trade school, and college. Coverdell ESAs provide similar tax advantages and can fund private secondary school and college expenses. UTMA custodial accounts in Texas transfer to the child at age 21.
