Preparing your CommunityAmerica accounts for estate transfer involves two key steps: designating beneficiaries on each account and, where appropriate, retitling accounts into a trust. Because CommunityAmerica is a membership-based institution, trust retitling must maintain the membership eligibility requirement. Accounts with Payable on Death designations or trust ownership bypass probate entirely.

2Request to add or update a POD beneficiary designation on your account
3Provide beneficiary details: full name, date of birth, Social Security number, and relationship
4Specify percentage allocation for each beneficiary (must total 100%)
5All account owners must sign the beneficiary designation form
6Receive confirmation of the updated beneficiary designation

Special Requirements

  • POD beneficiary designations are available for checking, savings, money market, and certificate accounts
  • Trusts can be named as POD beneficiaries on eligible deposit accounts
